I reported this area two years ago for poor drainage, explaining how it was deteriorating the asphalt surface and the water being a hazard to drivers and cyclists. No action was taken.
The water on the road is around 70 cm higher than the ditch next to the road, a simple bit of excavation to allow the water to drain would have prevented this issue.
As expected the water has continued to wash away the asphalt, after the recent dry spell then rain a significant amount of broken asphalt is now covering the surface of the road create hazards for flying objects as cars speed past.
The reduction in the width of the road has increased with a deep pocket of water along the road, if a driver is forced to the side of the road by a tractor or other oncoming vehicle this will result in significant damage to the car, if it is a cyclist then much worse.
I did write to complain about the maintenance on the road two years ago, I was told the road is visited every six months. I would be very interested in how this issue is being reported, and will action a freedom of information request if this road is not corrected fully, meaning the surface, the drainage and the flying debris.
I wonder what cost preventative maintenance in the first instance on the drainage would have been compared to the remedial costs now required.
