Unknown car left the road and hit 2x road signs

Reported via mobile anonymously at 17:14, Sun 8 June 2025

Sent to Mid Sussex District Council and West Sussex County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7678485.

Today (Sun 8 June 2025), an unknown car left the A272 at speed, just after the junction with the B2111 heading towards Scaynes Hill. I live in a neighbouring property and rushed out having heard a screech and a very loud bang. Unfortunately accidents are a frequent occurrence at this junction, so I was worried someone may have been hurt. There was no vehicle onsite by the time my neighbor and I got to the end of our drive, but a cyclist who had been coming up the B2111 also attended as he had heard a crash and seen a large dust cloud. We could clearly see tyre tracks where the vehicle fully left the tarmac, mounted the verge by our house and took out two metal road signs before swerving back onto the road. I've attached some photos, but have more if needed.

I really feel that the speed limit should be assessed on this stretch of road, as it is 40 or 30 on the stretches either side, but inexplicably increases to 50 (and people drive much faster) on a blind bend with a busy junction. This makes no sense to me. I've only lived here a few years and have already witnessed 10+ accidents, but heard report of many more.
