Verges to my entrance a trip hazard
Reported via mobile in the Grass category by Tracey Hutchins at 16:20, Sat 31 May 2025
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7643257.
The grass verge to the front of my property and to the side of my gate not being maintained and have become very overgrown and unsightly, I have Multiple sclerosis and have to be careful as my balance is not great and so it can be tricky navigating my way safely around it .
Council ref: ENQ251049360

Was promised this would be done on the 9th of June, it wasn’t & now have been told that it will be the 23rd !! The village is looking awful, not a great impression for what is normally a very pretty village!

Why can no one strim outside of my gate !!!!!!, they always leave a patch of nettles that I can not remove myself and invariably get higher and higher am I have to try and navigate them. After a long awaited verge cut I go out expecting it to be clear but still they have left that patch ! What are people in housing for elderly and disabled supposed to do ? I was moved here for a reason 🤷♀️

Thank you for your enquiry. Oxfordshire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is ultimately responsible for the maintenance of grass verges alongside the carriageway network throughout Oxfordshire (excluding motorways and trunk roads). Under our new approach, all roadside verges in both rural and urban areas are cut once a year. If necessary, we will trim areas that impede driver visibility more regularly. For more details, you can refer to our Highway Verge and Vegetation Management policy at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ sites/ default/ files/ file/ roads-and-transport-major-projects/ grasscuttingpolicy.pdf
