Caversham village wooden sign graffiti vandalism
Reported via Android in the Graffiti category anonymously at 20:01, Mon 26 May 2025
Sent to Reading Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7619680.
Am writing to inform you that the Caversham village sign appears to have been modified. A white Range Rover pulling what looks like a trailer has been added to the top of the sign. This addition does not appear to match the original style or content of the artwork, and it may not have been authorised. Could you please confirm whether this change was sanctioned by the council or if it was done without permission? It may be worth investigating to ensure the integrity of the original artwork.

Unfortunately the actual vandalism has occurred in its removal. You would have to be fairly dense to think the black cloud of smoke was a trailer. It was an obvious statement made how the use of oversized unnecessary vehicles leading to pollution and environmental disaster. Chances are it was removed by a self serving bigot whom was a target of the ridicule the sign brought. Since 2021 it has been in place but one muppet gets ups set and ruins it for future generations.
Now all that’s left is a boring bridge on a boring signpost. No place for fun or humour in Caversham any more.
