Commercial pavement clutter

Reported via desktop in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 10:39, Saturday 24 May 2025

Sent to Glasgow City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7612558.

Photo from exactly a year ago but practice now much worse. Both sides of the barriers festooned with goods - bikes on the inside, with now an expanded array of goods outside the shop.

The latter, fine (as long as it doesn't expand any further) and matches the width of the seating now outside the food joint next door.

However the additional bikes on the barriers reduce the pavement to 'single lane' with people queuing up to pass. I saw a woman with a mobility aid hampered by this lack of consideration. It's also near to a busy two-way crossing which doesn't exactly help matters any.

Please have all the barrier junk removed & make a return visit in say 3 months to verify it hasn't re-appeared when your back is turned... Thanks.

Updates

  • Oh, and it's also right next to pedestrian crossing lights ergo people waiting to cross while others trying to get by all the commercial clutter. Not clever.
