Failed Road Surface

Reported via mobile in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 13:56, Fri 23 May 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7609940.

The road surface has completely failed and now stretches across both sides of the carriageway. It’s a national speed limit road and it’s quite dangerous when you have to slow down to 10mph to navigate a safe course through and other cars attempt to overtake as they don’t realise why you’ve slowed.

Council ref: ENQ251048677

  • Road surface has completely failed with at least 10 large potholes across both side of the carriageway, this section is not easily visible as its in the shade of the tree & there's evidence of numerous bits of car trim in the gutters. While taking photos car were completely unaware of how bad this surface is. In earlier days we suffered both tyre & wheel damage at well below the national speed limit.

  • This has been like it for months and now with major diversions to/from Watlington due to 18 weeks of road works there is significantly higher volumes of traffic significantly increasing risk to road users with a total lack of action by the authority.

  • This problem has been reported before and was supposedly fixed by OCC and the case closed . The road needs fully resurfacing not just bodging as they did a wile ago . Will it take a serious accident before they do anything about it or perhaps a Section56 Highways Act 1980 raised ?
