Large tree looks dead?

Reported via desktop in the Young Tree Requires Maintenance category anonymously at 16:07, Wed 14 May 2025

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7569596.

Can this tree be inspected and if dead can it be removed and site noted for replanting asap?

Is it just diseased?

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Sadly, the Alder has prematurely died, presumed to be drought related given how little rainfall we have had so far this year and being in a confined location of a concrete tree pit. Works have been raised and issued to the contractor to remove the tree. Separately, a replacement has been added to the planting schedule 2025/26 which is in hand to be planted next planting season.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. To give an update, the tree has now been felled. It was noted that the tree pit surfacing covered part of the buttress roots which did not allow the contractor access to grind out the stump completely. The Highways Officer has organised with Riney's for this to be removed and the contractor will return to site to grind out the stump as soon as Highways have done this.

  • To give an update. The contractor has hired in a specialist grinder for the works and they are scheduled in to be completed by the 02/08/25.

  • Please accept our apologies, the works have been delayed. The works will be scheduled in for completion as soon as we have confirmation from Highways they have removed all the tree pit surfacing around the buttress roots.
