Dangerous parking on A361 causing collision risk

Reported in the Car parking category anonymously at 12:49, Fri 29 January 2016

Sent to Cherwell District Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 756053.

Over the last few months there is regularly a line of vehicles parked on the west side of the A361 adjacent to the entrance to Stone Hill. This means that traffic coming north on the A361 is on the wrong side of the road as they come past the Humber Street entrance.

Turning left (south) out of Humber Street then becomes extremely hazardous as (in addition to the regular issue of the area being used as a turning / parking area for the shops) you are likely to find someone in your lane in all directions. I've had several near misses with A361 traffic since this started happening.

This seems to have only become an issue recently, since the property at the corner of Stone Hill became a business, so I suspect it is being used for client / staff parking.

  • I got a short response from the council stating that they have no authority to deal with this type of complaint, and I should contact the police! Firstly, if that's true, why doesn't FixMyStreet send it to the police in the first place? I thought the whole point was that it got sent to the relevant authority. Second, this is wrong, because there is no law being broken, because there are no double yellow lines. I'm pretty sure that painting these IS the council's responsibility.
