Large amounts of litter along the road verges - both sides

Reported in the Flytipping category by Sarah Venners at 09:26, Mon 25 January 2016

Sent to South Oxfordshire District Council 3 minutes later

We live on Hithercroft Road and yesterday I was dismayed to see how much litter there currently is along both verges of this lane - thrown from thoughtless, ignorant people from their cars. Please could you send a team to firstly pick it all up (we have done it in the past - picking up the beer cans etc, but there simply is too much for us to now pick up), and secondly, please put up some (temporary) road signs like they do on the Motorways - ie "Please take your litter home" "Litter endangers wildlife" etc. I am utterly saddened by what I see as I drive along nowadays - our lovely road is now used as a rat run, race track and dumping ground for peoples coffee cups and beer cans.

  • Thank you for responding with a holding email the other week - however, I saw a team of litter pickers alongside the bypass following my request, but they didn't actually come along Hithercroft road (the B road to South Moreton). The verges are littered with beer cans, bottles, general rubbish, food wrappers etc - chucked out of cars. Please could you clear our verges? Is there a campaign we can initiate to alert the thoughtless people about the dangers to wildlife and simply the unsightliness of their actions? thank you in advance Sarah Venners
