Street light too bright outside 39 Horwell Drive after replacement unit fitted.
Reported via desktop in the Street lighting category anonymously at 07:18, Tue 6 May 2025
Sent to Cornwall Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7526233.
Since the replacement, the new light emits an excessively bright and intrusive level of illumination. This light is directly shining into both the bedroom and living room of my property, causing significant disturbance to sleep, rest, and privacy. The level and direction of the light constitute light nuisance and pollution as defined under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005, which requires that local authorities take action where artificial light emitted from premises is prejudicial to health or a nuisance.
This installation fails to meet reasonable lighting standards for residential areas. The issue may be resolved with appropriate shielding, angling, dimming, or substitution with a less intrusive unit. I respectfully request that the council inspect this installation as a matter of urgency and take corrective action.
