  • This issue was originally reported in August 2024 (5016938), and the email response received at the time was:

"The edging of paths will be completed over the winter as the ground is currently too hard and will damage the edging machine. All edging is carried out over the winter months for all parks."

However, no work was undertaken over the winter months as stated.

Now, in May/June 2025, after following up once again, the latest response is:

"This work is programmed for the winter as the ground is softer. We have a programme for park edging, so this site will be done next winter."

This means, in effect, a wait of 16–18 months for a relatively minor task to be completed.

I would also like to challenge the reasoning provided. The justification regarding the ground being “too hard” or “too soft” does not seem applicable in this case. The majority of the growth is occurring over hard tarmac, not soil, and would therefore require manual hoeing or scraping, regardless of ground softness.

    Can you please confirm:

Why this relatively small job has now been deferred twice despite its simplicity?

Whether a manual intervention (e.g. scraping weeds from the tarmac) can be scheduled in the short term to address the current state?

When exactly the edging work will be completed – and what steps are being taken to ensure it will not be missed again this coming winter?

Given the time already passed, I would appreciate a firm and practical resolution to this matter, not just another deferral.

    Thank you.
