Park turned into a dive

Reported in the Parks/landscapes category anonymously at 16:44, Tue 19 January 2016

Sent to Leicester City Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 749135.

This park /old playground at the end of Eastleigh road is a dilapidated eyesore and causing a major problem to neighbouring properties. No children use this to play, it's horrific. It is being used to obtain unlawful access to private properties among other things including drugs, theft (sifting through stolen articles) and arson as well as people hanging around in it causing anti social behaviour as its a secreted little cubby hole. The place is overgrown, full of broken glass, stolen property and needles and as it belongs to the council the police will not assist in this. Since the beginning of this week the locked gate to the park has been kicked open and the lock has been broken. We have tried to secure the gate temporarily with cable ties but these will be kicked off in no time. This place needs emptying and bricking up now as locking the gate repeatedly isn't working and this has been going on for too long. People living in the immediate vicinity do not want their privacy invaded any longer due to inadequate security and nature of use of this park.
