Defective road surface

Reported via iOS in the Potholes and maintenance category anonymously at 19:42, Thursday 17 April 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7450734.

This stretch of road is defective in both directions. I've been driving this road for at least 6 months and although I can see someone has placed a speed bump sign to alert drivers of a hazard, there has been no signs of filling the holes just white spray on the road and a temporary speed bump sign? I'm not sure if a speed bump sign is most appropriate for this as it’s not a speed bump (just pot holes) and it’s still a 60mph speed limit which does considerable damage to vehicles as it’s on both sides. I have seen cyclists almost fall off their bikes because they assume it’s a speed bump, not huge pot holes as they cycle at speed. Hopefully the road will be repaired soon as I can see some progress further down the road going towards the town.

Updated by Oxfordshire County Council at 19:42, Thursday 17 April 2025

  • The last post from OCC was on 26/03/2025 so just about a month ago. The road surface is still in an awful state and getting worse. There have been potholes in and around this area that have recently been filled in and although this stretch of road surface was also marked up with white paint, they haven't been filled in or repaired. WHY OCC? This road surface is breaking up, the potholes are getting bigger and it's dangerous to drive on. There will be a serious accident one day with motorists and cyclists trying to avoid it. Please see to this section of road asap, especially as I have been reporting on it regulary for over 6 months!
