Pavement tree is damaging my wall.
Reported via iOS in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 07:56, Wed 16 April 2025
Sent to Cardiff Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7441726.
A maple tree planted in the pavement is too close to my wall and is causing damage. A leading Cardiff arborist advises the wall is likely to collapse into the pavement. In an almost identical case across Valarian Close but on land owned by 11 Water Avens Close, the owner had a similar tree removed by the Parks Department and was told that his piece of land was being adopted by the council who still appear from time to time to manage vegetation. I’d like the Parks Department to investigate and take appropriate action to prevent a H&S issue whereby a passing member of the public could be injured if the wall collapses. Previously reported to the Parks Department with my last email remaining unanswered. Also reported to our MP and local councillor.

My local councillor is looking into this. Council Park undertake similar work on the opposite side of the road on land they’ve adopted according to the house there.

An eminent arborist has indicated the wall is being damaged by the tree growth. I’ve advised the Council that risk of injury exists to the council staff working under the tree to collect bins and bags.
