Dangerous wall collapse on road/path/right of way

Reported via mobile in the Footpaths/ Rights of way (usually not tarmac) category anonymously at 09:17, Tue 1 April 2025

Sent to Norfolk County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7368656.

The wall at the topmof Fiskes Steps has been knocked down by a heavy vehicle (probably as Cliff Hill is part closed and a lorry would have to reverse to turn into Lower Cliff Road). The wall is dangerous as it's at the top of the steps which is a thoroughfare used by the public. If hit again it could seriously injure anyone on the steps. There's also rubble in the road.

  • No repairs made. Steps still closed. Although the grass gets trimmed, the area is scruffy and neglected. Lots of discarded rubbish and dog poo.

  • No change. No repairs, one side of the path still unusable. Doesn't seem to deter the drug dealing though!

  • No resolution. The house wall at the top of the steps is dangerous and nothing has been done to remedy the collapsed wall. Access to the steps has been limited all summer. It's an eyesore.

  • Status quo regarding the wall and steps. Let this not become the White Lion steps.fiasco. Some of the green areas have been improved and workmwill continue over winter/spring which is very positive.

  • Just a word of advice: Whilst Lincolnshire County Council actively provide public updates to all their FixMyStreet reports, Norfolk County Council don't bother to do so. Do make sure that they provide you with an update!

  • One year anniversary. Shameful.

  • PLEASE HELP (if you haven't already)! If this was Lincolnshire, then Lincolnshire County Council would have been providing prompt, comprehensive, and publicly-available updates to this report, right here on the FixMyStreet website, for everybody to see. Unfortunately, Norfolk County Council don't do that (and they even try to discourage people from actually using FixMyStreet)! Please SIGN THE PETITITION, to urge Norfolk County Council to start collaborating with FixMyStreet, in the same way as Lincolnshire County Council is doing (as well as other places, e.g. Oxfordshire)! PETITION WEB ADDRESS: https://c.org/ Nd7gcrX4Bk (A big thankyou to everybody who has signed the petition so far. We've already exceeded 145 signatures, but let's keep going, to really make an impact on make Norfolk County Council!

  • Is this going to be another White Lion steps fiasco? Summer is coming and the steps are used by visitors. Shameful.
