Result of pavement eruption below /tree root cause now destroying my front wall

Reported via iOS in the Pavement and road repairs category anonymously at 13:58, Sat 29 March 2025

Sent to Brighton and Hove City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7356769.

Have been reporting since start of year when no visible crack - 10 weeks on now a very clear crack from base to top of my wall. The cracks across pavement weave from tree to my wall where as they impact the main area of pavement eruption happens /caused by roots hitting wall and now breaking through. Pavement team suggested no drainage from my front garden which I have now shared evidence of ample drainage ; they suggested previous damage now re appearing from 7 years ago - they have no evidence of this crack in this area of my wall and I have been documenting the crack appearing since start of year in line with recent pavement eruption ; they suggested I could shave any roots on my side in my property which would require complete excavation of a ten foot wall /major skip removal and support while work done approx cost £10-15k incl restoring and result in same issue as teee roots need to be taken /shaved away from wall (in area under pavement ) otherwise they will simply grow back within a year as cause will not be rectified. This action would also leave me at risk of damaging tree at potential significant fines if £20k plus from council. The arbiculture team cannot /will not do anything until the pavement team dig trench to show cause (tree root) from which they would expertly shave root and install effective tree root barrier under pavement - back from wall. My councillor has requested action and had little response. I am stuck watching the crack on my wall grow which if it gets to a certain point will result in significant cost - which I am trying to avoid by pro active request for action at far lower cost but no action from the pavements team.
