Traffic lights on shin field road
Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights category anonymously at 16:33, Thursday 27 March 2025
Sent to Reading Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7348532.
The traffic lights on Shinfield Road are a constant source of frustration for drivers. They seem poorly timed, allowing only two cars through before turning red again, causing long queues and significant delays. The road is always busy, and during peak hours, it can take anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes just to get past the lights. The constant stop-and-go adds to congestion, making this stretch one of the worst bottlenecks in the area.

Those lights by the pub is the worst area of traffic in Reading. The light turns green to allow ONE car through and then they turn red again. The traffic flow seems prioritised for turning down the side road and it blocks all the traffic from both sides down shinfield road. It takes me 1 hour 10 mins to do a 13 minute drive home. This is a total joke and either the traffic lights should be fixed or it should be made into a roundabout to ease congestion.

These lights outside the pub are the only ones letting a few cars through at a time. They were doing it just after 14:00, and if you have come out and sorted it, then it just goes back to how it was. I’m constantly reporting these lights; it’s a joke now.
