Constant water/flooding on road
Reported via desktop anonymously at 09:56, Mon 24 March 2025
Sent to Milton Keynes Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7326241.
This part of the road is constantly covered with water - even in the height of summer when we have a drought! In the winter the road floods and causes endless problems, Not sure if the problem is with the road or the canal which runs alongside or the fact that the drainage ditches need sorting. Either way this has been like this for at least the last 4 years as we have used this route regularly to go to family to care for grandson. PLEASE look it as soon as possible to avoid further problems in the area - including flooding -and indeed BEFORE further problems occur due to lack of maintenance/attention. Also blocked drains

The 'pond' going across the road appears to have been sorted by the Canal Trust, however, there is still a large amount of leaves etc in the gullies and doubtless blocking drains. The length of this road on both sides would benefit from the gullies and drains being cleared from the canal bridge (traffic lights) to at least the Church in Simpson village to avoid further problems,

I understand the Canal Trust have looked at the canal as part of this BUT
The road’s gullies are in serious need of clearing and the drains are so blocked along Simpson Road that there is no way any water can drain away. GULLY DRAINS DESPERATELY NEED UNBLOCKING asap before they become overwhelmed !!!

These drains are blocked with mud and leaves (photos previously supplied) and the gullies with leaves etc . Please get them cleared before winter. They’ve been like this for years!

Problem seems to be ok at the moment. Canal Trust said they’re aware and works scheduled. Local road drains still not cleared and weeds growing in and out of drains which have dried mud blocking them

Flooding in road due to canal leak seems to have been sorted BUT flooding due to blocked ditch and drains not sorted - and this is relevant as the water runs from the road/bridge above.
AND the drains from this point to the Church in Simpson village have still NOT been cleared despite weeds growing out of them. NEEDS TO BE DONE BEDORE WINTER AND RAINS!

The area by the canal/bridge seems to have been ‘sorted’ as those responsible for the Canal appear to have dropped the water level.
HOWEVER all drains along the length of Simpson Road as far as the village church needs CLEARING/CLEANING as they’re blocked and have weeds growing out of them so rains cannot drain away.

I’ve said I don’t know if it’s fixed as it seems to have improved over summer and the canal people definitely have done something to stop the leaking (I believe it’s been flagged as needing intervention)
Hopefully it has been fixed BUT the whole area needs to be monitored - including ALL road gutters and drains along the length of the road - as there are a lot of trees and thus drains will definitely need regular cleaning/maintenance.
