Poor condition of footbridge surfacing

Sent to Glasgow City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7319840.

The condition of the footway surfacing on the footbridge over the railway is very poor. It is unsuitable for walking, buggies, wheeling and cycling.

  • Crossed the bridge on 14 May and the surface was still appalling and not just for bikes. Anyone in a wheelchair or using a buggy would find it difficult.

  • The moon is smoother than this bridge's surface right now. Absolutely abysmal. Any other pavement in such a condition would have been resurfaced well before now.

  • I went over the footbridge on 18 June 2025 and there was no improvement to the surface.

  • I went over the bridge on 13 August 2025 and the surface is still in need of repair. Nothing has happened.

    Just about to email the Council about it as I have subsequently found out it is a core path route.

    I tried reporting this to the sustainable travel department but they just passed it on to roads. As far as I am aware it hasn't been fixed but I haven't checked it recently.

    I crossed the bridge today (07/11/2025) and it had been resurfaced. It wasn't the smoothest of surfaces but it was very much better than what was there before.
