Green traffic light duration too short

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights category anonymously at 09:48, Thursday 20 March 2025

Sent to Glasgow City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7307919.

When travelling from W Graham Street towards Cowcaddens Rd or Garscube Rd, the frequency of the green light is every 2 minutes and only lasts 10 seconds at a time. The traffic here has always been bad during peak hours, but now that the whole stretch of this road has been reduced to a single lane, it's simply unacceptable. At around 5pm you have a queue of cars all the way from Great Western Rd and each time the light goes green, you're lucky if 5 cars can manage to get through the lights before it turns red. It can often take 10 minutes to get from Stow building to this junction, which is unbearable to say the least. Add the other short duration green light bottleneck reduced to a single lane at the Garscube Rd and Dobbie's Loan junction and it can take 15-20 minutes to get out of Cowcaddens. Please sort this out - the traffic management here is simply unrealistic. People living and working on and around New City Rd desperately need access to another service road entrance/exit that's not Scott Street, like the one that already exists on Phoenix Rd but is closed, to alleviate the traffic jam that occurs on W Graham Street.
