Dangerous pavement parking, Monday to Friday every week between approx 8.30am and 4pm
Reported via desktop in the Car parking category anonymously at 19:14, Mon 17 March 2025
Sent to Leeds City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7293974.
15 to 20 cars are parked half on the pavement every weekday on both sides of this busy road. This is dangerous for road users and pedestrians alike. The pavement is partially blocked for pupils walking to the nearby Prince Henry’s School, for parents with prams and pushchairs and allows only limited access for those with disabilities. The problem is worst during term time which suggests that some of these cars belong to staff/ older pupils from Prince Henry’s School. I have reported this situation to West Yorkshire Police but they have referred me to Leeds City Council, which seems negligent in my view.

Since this problem appears to be as a result of sixth form pupil parking from Prince Henry’ s School, I wrote to the Headteacher outlining the issue. She replied promptly agreeing that pupils were regularly reminded about inconsiderate parking. I pointed out that this pavement parking was not only inconsiderate but illegal and dangerous. It is worth noting that the problem has disappeared during the Easter School Holidays. I am now minded to write to my MP since the Police and Leeds City Council are apparently not inclined to act.
