Hedges encroaching on the road
Reported via desktop in the Hedges category anonymously at 17:39, Thursday 6 March 2025
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7237329.
This problem was first highlighted a year ago and since then nothing has been done. All the hedges along the whole length of the road are overgrown and scratching cars.I will now be putting in a claim for the scratches on my car

*Hedgerow Retention Notice urgent request, (see: modulus by Metheney & Clarke in note 1a ‘RPA function’ in BS 5837 (4):2012 p.11, agenda items 4.6.1-.3 a-d) - interesting tree constraints are clearly revealed in-situ, some have been recently removed to facilitate access onto Pyrton Lane, formerly retaining higher tier BNG (biodiversity net gain) & nature conservation value - negatives include significant structural decline and loss of cinsiderable amenity & aesthetic value constraints (After: agenda items 1.9-10 in The Hedgerow Regs. SI 1997/1160 p.9), (see: agenda items 3.6, 4.17, 7.1-30, 9.2 in Section 97 The Env. Act 1995)
Note: new lighting bulbs, assumed to be now above 3000 W have negatively impacted on the former, considerable Bat and other apex predator populations in-situ etc

All Hedges urgently need cutting back before the mass of extra traffic will be using Pryton Lane for the 15 weeks of SGN road closures on Shirburn Road, starting 2nd June. For Highways reference multiple stretches are so bad that Car Wing Mirrors have worn a groove into the very overgrown Hedgerow!

In the last 18 months there has been no work undertaken to improve this. What makes it worse is this is now the main diversion router since Watlington now has major road works and no point did somebody take the opportunity to remove the foliage before turning into a major roadway. This is a mixture of private and public owned hedges and the lack of forward planning is causing extensive damage to vehicles including my own I will be getting in touch with SODC and I should yes other people do as well to claim for the damage
