  • This is the state of the road 700m away from the Quarry heading into Wroxton. This is totally unacceptable, and the Quarry have not swept for months! Exiting the Quarry the A422 is just mud and heading towards Wroxton, and the road surface is hidden due to the fact there is so much!

  • This is depth of mud and silt laying along the kerb side next to the drains from the quarry. If the quarry swept as they are supposed to this would no build up, as if this is laying here how much has entered the drains.

  • Parish councillors have highlighted to Earthline of this disgraceful situation, but it would seem that cleaning of the roads due to their and other associated contractors leaving the quarry carrying more than excessive amounts of mud on to the highway. That is bad enough but on to a 60mph road as well!!!

  • Driving through Wroxton right along to the next village of Drayton, there continued to be a developing amount of mud in the carriageway leaving the Wroxton Fields Quarry and being taken along the road all the way to Drayton. The level of mud on the national speed limit road due to the lorries leaving the quarry is dangerous and at levels completely incomparable with their commitments to highway maintenance and safety. The level of mud is accumulating rapidly and can be seen blocking main road soak away drains, creating risk of surface water and risk when rain falls.

There has been no attempt to keep the roads clean of muds, no attempt to remove the mud from the high volume of HGVs leaving the quarry which indicates no respect or duty of care for public safety or the local neighbourhood. The road signage, neighbouring buildings as well as the road itself need urgent attention and wide scale cleaning as a matter of urgency.

  • This morning I was driving from Shenington towards Wroxton around 52mph. As I reached the junction of the quarry, there was so much wet mud on the road my traction control had to kick in to keep my car steady. There was a road sweeper out but it is so ineffectual and simply making the thick mud, clearly being brought out by the HGVs without any effective wheel washing, just more slippery and dangerous. I note there are slippery road signs that have been put out but the issue is the continual amount of mud coming out from the quarry, the limited road sweeping cannot keep on. Top of it sort out the problem. Please, before there is a terrible accident, enforce proper road clearing to sort the current issue and enforce proper protocols that stop the HGVs bringing such large volumes of mud out on to a fast road again. I also note all the excess mud is not sat blocking all the road drains so when it does rain, surface water will develop quickly on this road and, combined with the thick mud, will simply add to the risk. I would suggest the quarry also arranges these drains to be dredged of all the silt and mud their HGVs will have caused to block these drains.
