Derelict advertising trailers left for several years.
Reported via desktop anonymously at 15:42, Saturday 1 March 2025
Sent to Glasgow City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7209633.
Residential Area, Scout Hall opposite hosts the Karate club. 4 trailers are derelict, flat tyres, moss covered, attract graffiti. The information is out of date. A new bigger trailer appeared a few yeas ago. The Scout hall refuses to have any conversation about the derelict appearance. The Scout association refers us back to the individual Scout Hall representative. Local councillors have been asked about the legitimacy of advertising this way in an exclusively residential area. No reply after a year. The area is brought down by these derelict, immobile, ugly trailers. Locals litter pick and weed spray the verges all along the main road to complement the council grass cutting which is very reliable and much appreciated! The owners of the trailers are the Karate club based in the Scout hall.

Hi. I’m one of the local councillors. I’m still working on trying to have these removed. Notices to remove have been served and have expired. The council now needs to seek legal authority to remove them.

A request has been made to the office of the local MSP to pursue the matter.

Still awaiting resolution of this issue. Derelict vehicles now attracting further fly tipping, see enclosed photo of pile of tyres. As residents, we are deeply disappointed in the inability of anyone in authority to deal with this private company who continue to ply their trade in our area while, at the same time, taking control of our street and dumping their rubbish on our doorsteps. They have done this now for close to a decade with complete impunity and the blessing of both the local Scout Organisation and, it seems, the Council. We’re completely perplexed!

Still no change… contacted the local MSP who are also trying to address the issue. Surely the UK Scouting administration could step in and resolve this as it originates from their tenants? Maybe the council could liaise with them? Meanwhile the trailers continue to rot into the ground. 😕
