Insufficient time for cycles

Crossing from Great Knollys Street to Stanshaw Road on a green light, there was insufficient time to get across the IDR before southbound traffic pulled away, narrowly missing my wife on her bike. I am a fit cyclist, was about three cars from the front when my lights turned green. They must have changed just as I crossed the line to cross the IDR. Some cyclists will be slower than me, so the timing between greens seems too short. Please allow a few more seconds before releasing the IDR racers, thankyou. A safety improvement before it happens again, it might not be just hooted horns.
