Very large pavement eruption now cracking my front wall - tree root

Reported via mobile in the Pavement and road repairs category anonymously at 10:12, Sat 1 March 2025

Sent to Brighton and Hove City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7208156.

A very large eruption of public pavement in front of my house - a tripping hazard in itself - is growing fast and connects to my large front wall of my house which is also now showing signs of a crack . It is clearly due to tree root - this has happened to neigbours in recent years - council appear to be ignoring but speed of pavement damage and now walk crack accelerating - I assume as roots expanding . Needs urgent tree root trimming back ; pavement repair before wall cracks and becomes a danger

Updates

  • The pavement outside our house , 34 Queen's Park terrace , has erupted due to tree root damage , which is now cracking our front wall as roots have travelled along pavement now reaching our wall. Council Pavement team won't dig investigative trench due to cost and pavement not broken enough ignoring fact tree roots now entered my wall and breaking it at my cost. I am unable to shave tree roots as they are under the pavement that council dept refusing to dig and repair. I have been reporting the growing damage since start of year. 3 councillors ; 2 council depts and zero action while my property gets damaged further which ultimately result in far higher cost for the tax payers and myself.
