Large old type highway drainage gulley at side of road seems TOO open accessible to children and small dogs etc or someone's foot going into it

Just seems to be too large and opening in the edge of the road, risky....been there years but maybe some of the carriageway has slowly collapsed into it making the opening bigger ..certainly it's not to modern standards
