Blocked driveway

Reported via mobile in the Car Parking category anonymously at 09:26, Monday 24 February 2025

Sent to Lewisham Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7177810.

A car is parked on the yellow line, blocking my driveway. There are parking operating hours and restrictions, but no parking wardens to enforce them. This is not a one-off incident. I have a large van that needs to go in and out of the driveway, so when it is blocked, it becomes very difficult to get in or out.

Updates

  • I have contacted Lewisham CPN Office twice to report an issue. I was told that they were going to send a parking officer, but until now, nothing has happened. The car is still here, obstructing the road and driveway. There is no sign of a parking officer.

  • The same car is repeatedly obstructing the driveway and the road, as you can see, parked on a yellow line at least once a week. This week, it was there on Monday and again today. It usually parks in the morning and remains until late evening.

I have reported the issue, but no action has been taken. This is a controlled parking area, yet the driver has not received a single parking ticket. It seems they continue to park there because no parking officers are around to enforce the rules.

  • It seems like this problem is going to be ongoing. People keep blocking our driveway, even though there is a yellow line clearly marking it. As a result, my husband can't leave for work until the car blocking the driveway moves.

We have a large van parked on the driveway, and because the road is narrow—with cars often parked on the opposite side—there’s no way for him to get out if someone is blocking the entrance. This is becoming a serious issue, and it’s causing major disruption to our daily routine.
