The road floods after rain at a pedestrian crossing.

Reported via desktop by Paul Rimmer at 09:54, Fri 21 February 2025

Sent to Glasgow City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7166052.

As you approach the traffic lights on Kilbride Street at the junction with Polmadie Road, the road on the left is frequently flooded, possibly due to blocked gulleys. The area is indicated on the photo by the blue line. This is a signalised crossing point for pedestrians and cyclists. Today I saw two pedestrians waiting to cross had to jump clear as two vehicles racing to get through the lights sent waves of water splashing on to the pavement. This situation has existed for many months.

Updates

  • I haven't been back after heavy rain. I've had an email from GCC saying 'The fault that you reported has now been made safe.' However, I have no idea which fault it is.

  • This has not been fixed it is persistent during rain and additional problem is that many of the crossing points in that area are silted up making them extremely slippy. One of the alternative routes also floods. As a pedestrian and a cyclist I have almost fallen several times

  • Additional flood on left hand road as you come from rutherglen turning left toward polmadie

  • I drove past hear late afternoon on 05 April 2026 (after Storm Dave) and the road was badly flooded again with water covering 2/3 of the road. It is apparent that nothing has been done about this.

  • It was noticeable that two days after the last flood, the water was all gone. I don't know whether this was due to drainage or whether it had been pumped out

  • It drains VERY slowly. It can be flooded for days. There's dirt over all of the crossings at that junction too which gets very slippy
