(correction) Decades-old puddle on main route
Reported in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 13:13, Mon 31 August 2009
Sent to Camden Borough Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 71512.
[previous post had wrong map point.] I have been walking through/round this puddle for decades, have mentioned it to any Camden workmen I see and it persists. The path is the main pedestrian entrance to Euston station. One workman told me that Camden and Raitrack had fought in court claiming the other was responsible.

The wrong agency (TfL's contractor) phoned next day. Quick response. Wrong agency. Details at <a href="http://michaeledwards.org.uk">http:/ / michaeledwards.org.uk</ a>

Concil never replied.
TfL must have been alerted by Council: they replied and were very thorough, establishing that it was not their land/problem. I then tried Network Rail.... long saga all in detail on michaeledwards.org.uk

Camden, Network Rail and TfL all deny being responsible. But on 9/10 December TfL's contractors did clear the gulley. No-one has yet modified the surface: the drain is still ABOVE the hollow occupied by the puddle. Blog has details.

TfL sent someone to clear the drain (despite it not being their responsibility)and LB Camden says it will do some further work when weather permits. Puddle persists, however.

Camden LB did some drainage and tarmac work which has reduced the size of the puddle. But people still have to jump or circumvent it. So we enter our sixth month of agitation for effective action.

Partially fixed: it is now no worse than many other badly-drained areas in this park / plaza.

Partially fixed: puddle now shallow and not as bad as many others in the same area. But the whole, very heavily used, open space remains a disgrace.
