Lights are out of sync

Reported via mobile in the Request Timing Review category by Aaron Saull at 13:26, Monday 17 February 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7146428.

Ever since these lights were installed when Aldi was built, these lights have been out of time with the older lights outside of Asda. As a result, they will often turn Red for main traffic right after the Asda lights have turned green, which is ten times worse during rush hours. The other issue is that when they turn Red for the main road, there is a long delay before they allow the Kensington Close traffic to go. This happens regardless of pedestrians pressing the button or not. As such this backs traffic up even more down the hill which then leads to cars blocking the Thornton Road junction entirely.

    State changed to: Investigating

  • Investigation: Completed (Highways to Monitor, Routine Inspection Programme) - This site is monitored daily on CCTV. There will always be more time for the Harborough Road due to the amount of traffic using it. There is also a separate right turn into Kensington Rd from Harborough which stops the outbound traffic and then there will be pedestrian crossing which have to allow time for them cross. This will take time to go round it's cycle so there will be a little bit of a wait time for the Kensington Road.
