Accumulated dangerous rubbish along Hamm Moor Adjacent to Canal path

Reported via iOS in the Rubbish (refuse and recycling) category anonymously at 17:42, Sunday 16 February 2025

Sent to Runnymede Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7142900.

The litter left along this beauty spot is beyond a joke. As volunteers we often go and collect bag loads but it reappears from cars parked up next to the canal - along from The Pelican down to the metal railway bridge. Signs need to be erected here to remind people and maybe a bin to encourage proper disposal. So many broken bottles and canisters and dangers to children and wildlife along this popular route. This needs urgent and regular attention.

Updates

  • Still a mess and now a bin has been abandoned there with rotting vegetation. Rats bound to find a nice meal! I had been told this had been cleared but it hasn’t and the rubbish is now collecting in the entrance to the footbridge.

  • Still rubbish dumped along the edge of the road adjacent to the path. During the week the cars are lined up against the bank so it’s difficult to get around them to clear it or even take photos. Weekends it is more obvious. Signs are needed to deter offenders of littering and also some bins may be helpful !
