Roads cracking and sinking all over this area

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 15:42, Sunday 16 February 2025

Sent to Norfolk County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7142366.

Across Ashtree Road, Hawthorn Road, Kabin Road, Hill Road, Hill Vue Cl and Norwich Road between the Kabin Road and Hill Road exits all have cracks forming on the roads with sinking. There are some issues on Gurney Road in this area too. Some properties (including our own) have suffered subsidence. The area has been subjected to being dug up for fibre optics and gasworks in the last couple of years, which seems to have exacerbated the problem. It wasn't long ago that there were sinkholes on both Norwich Road (and Gurney Road I think). It seems this whole area may have subsidence issues. What's the council going to do about it though?

Updates

  • The council responded via email basically stating it's not "bad enough", so they're willing to potentially let dangerous sinkholes end up opening. Nice!
