Hazardous Parking in Watlington Street

Reported in the Car parking category anonymously at 16:24, Fri 6 November 2015 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to South Oxfordshire District Council less than a minute later

Every third Saturday of each month people going to the Sue Ryder Home sale park their vehicles very irresponsibly in Watlington Street and nearby roads. Making it very dangerous and difficult for other vehicles to safely pass and for Nettlebed residents to access Watlington Street. - Would suggest that a Highways official is present at the next sale. AM Saturday Nov 21st. to assess the situation before a serious accident occurs.

  • The only way to prevent the parking would be to install formal waiting restrictions (yellow lines), this requires the implementation of a Traffic Regulation Order which involves a long and expensive legal process including public consultation. I am sure that you are aware of the financial difficulty of both local and national government, this means we have to make some difficult decisions to ensure the greatest benefit for all the residents of Oxfordshire, I regret that there is no funding available for the installation of formal waiting restrictions at this time. It should be noted that if vehicles are parked in a dangerous position they are committing an offence under Section 22 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and can therefore be reported to Thames Valley Police so that enforcement can take place.
