  • Cars swerving into middle of road here

Posted anonymously at 14:26, Wednesday 5 February 2025

  • B4027 from Bletchingdon to A34 the whole way along this stretch of road there are pot holes, road verge collapses, water/severe ice (when temperature drops) sitting on road. Road users are using the middle of the road in fear of severe damage to their vehicles. It has been like this for months. Without sounding dramatic someone will be hurt, as when water has filled up the pot holes and you're travelling at night, it's very difficult to navigate. Needs escalating quickly.

  • The potholes stretch all the way along this road from before gateway to Heathfield right up past Diamond farm. Road has collapsed away and there are multiple deep large potholes. This week I have witness 5 cars, 2 of which had damage to wheels and 3 changing tyres all at same location. The people that arrived and said they fixed the holes turned up and fixed 2 or 3 of the smaller holes and were gone within half hour. This road is dangerous for all vehicles, bicycles and horses. The people of Heathfield now have no way of entering the village unless they travel along this roads using their own vehicles as there is no public transportation and no footpaths. Not only do we live in a village with unadopted roads but have to risk this road to access the village, only service the people of Heathfield seem to receive is their bin collection. This is irresponsible that this road is left in this dangerous state as a major link to local villages.

  • Thank you for your report. An inspection has been made along the stretch of the B4027 between Bletchingdon and Islip today, and several defects have been logged for an urgent repair. The large section of edge deterioration; in the vicinity of Heathfield Park, will be made safe with temporary traffic lights until a full structural repair can be made via programmed works. We will attempt to resolve/repair this issue as soon as possible. Kind regards
