Beggars Mile
Reported anonymously at 10:05, Tue 27 October 2015
Sent to Southampton City Council 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 707657.
Beggars have set up a camp. Harrassing the public and causing an eyesore/public health hazzard.

This problem isn't just limited to this corner, it's the whole of the QE2 mile - which if you check on trip advisor is now coined the "beggars mile". Well done, what a great advert for Southampton.
There are beggars approx every few hundred feet down the whole shopping precinct, I counted at least 30 at the weekend. This is a disgrace not to mention a health hazard and intimidating for the general public. The council should be ashamed of themselves letting the premier shopping street be hi-jacked in this way.

Perhaps you might consider donating to a homeless charity in order to help these people off the street?

I raise this simply as a matter of public health and sanitation. Don't presume to judge my charitable donations.

These people are actually homeless with the majority of which not being beggers. At the last count, FOI-1617-0917 on 21/12/2017, there were 187, count them, 187 empty SCC Council Homes within Southampton. Not to mention the 2,930 empty private ones within the SCC borders also. Please consider how lucky you are to be able to shop before hating on things of which you don't know enough about.
