Very deep pothole right where traffic is forced to be.

Reported via Android in the Pothole category anonymously at 13:25, Friday 31 January 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 6 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 7064630.

This pothole is dangerous, traffic is forced into it by roadworks on the opposite side, it is approaching an already difficult turning and at night especially it's impossible to see the pothole until you are upon it.

This is a junction where I had a very serious accident that was lucky to walk away from but not uninjured because of a slight distraction in the road similar to this pothole and a speeding oncoming vehicle. The chain link fencing around the corner property used to be a brick wall years ago and it was because of my accident that the brick wall had to be removed. I suffer still 18-19 years later! I don't want this to happen to anyone else! It's hard to focus on a junction and turning across traffic in the second after slamming through a pothole.

It is going to cause an accident, it's a matter of time. I know at least a couple of people now have damaged cars as a result of this unavoidable pothole and that number is just going to keep going up and the community is discussing it, more and more people will be making (perfectly reasonable) claims to have damage fixed. Fixing this pothole benefits everyone involved.

It's not like everyone is kicking up a fuss about the poor state of the roads all the way round the village, the constantly blocked drains and flooding... For that matter, the completely inadequate drains that we have that cause the flooding because they don't do their job. Or the absolute butchering and hack job done on the poor hedgerows and trees around the village with a tractor and hedge trimmer. Making the village look scarred and wounded... With main trunks being ripped apart and they were set back from the road and never needed to be touched

  • This pothole was still there on Friday 31st Jan when I hit it in my car, ot os so large and is unavoidable as is round a curve in the road and when there is oncoming traffic there is no where to go as the road is so narrow.

  • I have been asked to provide a photograph of the pothole. It is around a dangerous bend, narrow road, no verge on the side of where the pothole is, so I will NOT risk my life to get a photo when the council has qualified technicians and equipment to render themselves safe.
