Inappropriate Pothole Repairs

Reported via mobile in the Potholes and maintenance category anonymously at 11:27, Wednesday 29 January 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7051819.

A previously potholed section of NCN 544 has recently been 'repaired' using very coarse aggregate (within the last 2-3 weeks). Apparently the same was done last summer and caused the same issue.

While this solution is suitable for heavy farm vehicles it has rendered the track unusable for anything but the most robust mountain bikes. This is a problem because the track is mainly used by cycle commuters who wish to bypass the busy main roads in the area.

While the previous potholes were an issue, they were easy enough to avoid on a bicycle, whereas the aggregate now covers the complete width of the track for approximately 100m. There is no option to divert around.

I have checked with SusTrans and this section of the National Cycle Network is not owned or maintained by them.

It would be useful if the aggregate could be cleared and the potholes repaired by an appropriate means (or the whole section of track is resurfaced).
