Relayed patch causing issues
Reported via mobile in the Road Defect category anonymously at 11:44, Saturday 25 January 2025
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7030921.
A few weeks ago a small bit of the road directly outside our house was dug up and re filled.
Since then everytime a bus or lorry go over this patch our house is shaking and rattling.
I am wondering if the hole was filled in correctly as it could damage our property if not addressed.

This problem is obviously still persisting and not going away. It is only getting worse.
Please can somebody attend to look into this further. If they were to stand in our house for just 5 minutes as a bus or lorry drove past they would feel the house shake.
I am worried that parts of the house or walls will start to crack if the problem is not addressed.

Due to the damage this is potentially causing our house and the vibrations on the house I have resorted to parking my car in the road so busses and other vehicles have to drive around.
By doing this the vibrations have stopped. So the patch that has been reload is clearly causing the issue.

Due to the house “moving” and vibrating in the last few weeks we have noticed cracking int he walls. This is only getting worse each day and needs to be rectified asap.
Please can someone attend and look into the road issue as the damage to the house is becoming more and more as time goes on.

The remedial works are still outstanding with the Council's contractor and will be completed soon. Please could you fill out an online claim form concerning any damage to the house.

Where can I find the online claim form.
I also would not be able to fill out any form until the work is done. As each day it’s not done then the damage is getting worse.
One of the windows in the house is now shaking and cracks are appearing. As well as the radio yes attached to the walls at the back of the house.
As I say it’s only getting worse and more damage happening as nobody has come to fix it for months.
Someone from Bromley council looked at it last week as I spoke to him but he was actually here for different issues in the road.
Would be great if someone contacted me directly instead of message on here if possible.

Is there any update on when this will be fixed? Even a rough date?
The shaking and the rattling of the house and the shuttering the windows is become worse with each day that passes.
Please can some be in touch to let me know directly if possible?

I have called the council again and still get the same answer. The jobs in the “planned schedule of works”.
Yesterday and today there is a company Riney relaying parts of the road literally opposite our house and on the other side of the road from the patch we are complaining about.
I spoke to the guys doing the work and they have said the work was only planned fairly recently. So why are those parts of the road being relayed yet the part I have complained about for 6 months still not even been looked at.
Please can somebody give me an answer instead of its in the “planned schedule of works”

So today Riney turned up to work on the patch in the road. Unfortunately all they did was dig it up and relay exactly the same size again. I went and spoke to one of the guys and after telling him about the situation with our house shaking due to the patch. He said it’s highly unlikely relaying it will make much of a difference.
He was right. After relaying it the house still shakes and rattles when a bus or lorry drive over the patch.
The guy said it’s needs to be resurfaced wider and further so it has less impact. The road is also cutting up at the ages which is not helping. He also said he was going to log the issue when he got back to the office as it needs to be done properly.
So after over 6 months of waiting this has still not been resolved and still needs to be done correctly.
Please can somebody inform me of what happens next.

Last week the job was “closed” and the same again this week.
This has still not been rectified and there is still a major issue. Nobody has come back out since they attempted to fix it weeks ago and even the guys doing the work said it would not be enough to fix the problem
Please can this be looked at again. Our house and walls are still shaking and there is still an issue.
If this doesn’t get addressed we will have to seek legal advice and follow the process that way.
