Woodstock Road/Frachay Road Junction: Tactile Paving Incorrectly reinstated
Reported via desktop in the Footways and Pavement damage category by Stephen Axtell OCC at 18:07, Friday 24 January 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7029126.
The tactile paving slabs on the pedestrian side of the white line that separates pedestrians from cyclists at this point has been rotated by 90° to form a “tramline” pattern this is misleading to blind people as it tells them that the pedestrian side of the white line is meant for cycles. It is clear that this must have been a reinstatement because there is a narrow 3 inch strip of correctly laid tac tiles against the property wall at the back of the footway.
Sadly this is not an isolated error along this stretch of road, so please be aware of my two other reports to follow as there may be a saving to be hard if all three sites are rectified together.
If you have any queries regarding the correct use of tactile paving out these locations please e-mail me at my OCC address and I will be happy to arrange for a site meeting if needed.
