Outside 16 Newcastle Road North, CW11 1RR

Reported via mobile in the Flooding category anonymously at 10:49, Tue 21 January 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7010343.

Footpath outside 16 & 18 Newcastle Road North floods heavily during rainfall, blocking the entire footpath. Pedestrians are forces to walk on the A50 (with cars going 50-60mph). When it’s icy, the entire footpath freezes over. There is a sinkhole appearing outside No. 18 and the occupiers of No. 16 cannot gain access to, or egress from, their property without walking through the flood water or walking on ice. The water has caused damage to the boundary wall of No. 16 and there is a risk the wall might collapse in the future if the Council does not rectify the issue. The water comes up between a gap between the footpath and No. 18’s paving. It appears there is a crack in the old Victorian surface water sewer and the pipe cannot cope with the amount of water. The path floods heavily further up (by the Bears Head) through the inspection grid. United Utilities has investigated and confirmed there is no water leak; it is a surface water drainage conduit that has damage and is pushing water through the footpath, causing extensive flooding.

The issue has been ongoing for several years. It was reported previously but never dealt with and the Council has since removed the report from the system without responding or dealing with it.
