This manhole has been ignored for far too long. It is at the brow of the hill on double white lines and drivers from Wallingford veer into the centre of the road to avoid the drop. Part of the iron cover is now protruding above the adjoining section. Rather than photographing it (which is far too dangerous) how about taking a look for yourselves? Whoever is responsible should get it fixed before crash occurs.

Not sure if this the same manhole, but if it is the one that I think it could be, then this also is very dangerous. Like all drivers we are constantly having to suddenly steer left or right to avoid the many major road failures. I attach a rather poor image of the manhole. If you hit this at any speed it will break a wheel. Why can't the council do a road check? It would not take long to drive along this road and detect the many dangerous areas of road. It will surely result in a serious accident. It seems that the council now rely solely on Fix My Streets for their road inspection reports.

Driving between Nuffield and Wallingford on Sunday 9th march 2025 I hit this sunken iron inspection cover which seems to have dropped below the tarmac by 10cm. My tyre has suffered damage to the side wall and requires replacement. Aside from this it’s extremely dangerous to hit a sunken cover at what is a national speed limit section of road.

For heavens sake! This has been very bad for months and only now does the council say it's 'investigating'!! Why is it that we have to wait so long for action? And why is it that the council do not have a roads inspection team that is proactive in mapping the sorry state of the roads in Oxfordshire!
