Multiple potholes causing damage to vehicles, dangers to road users
Reported via mobile in the Pothole category anonymously at 22:56, Wednesday 15 January 2025
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6986862.
I reported these several months ago and they contitto cause damage to vehicles, cyclists and danger for pedestrians ( dog walkers etc) who frequently use this road too & from neighbouring villages and the local primary school. You reported back to me that it had been fixed, but it had not been touched. There is evidence of other minor potholes being fixed but this has not been fixed. It is a single track road & so oncoming vehicles have no choice but to go up the embankment or run off the opposite side of the road or cause damage to their vehicle by being forced into the very deep potholes.

I reported this, along with many other potholes 12 on this road months ago and "repairs" were carried out. As is obvious from the above pictures the "repairs" were only temporary. The road is single track and is used by school traffic, 72 seat coaches and other vehicles which are completely unsuitable for the width of the road. When they meet oncoming traffic, one or other of the vehicles has to pull off the road to allow the other to pass. There are hardly any tarmac passing places and so the grass verge has to suffice. When a heavy vehicle pulls off the tarmac the side of the road breaks away, the verge turns to mud and gradually the road becomes narrower making the issue worse. This happens every year. There are multiple areas of potholes and mud passing places along this road to the bridleway at Warren Lodge. It is also used by cyclists, dog walkers and pedestrions, all of whom take their lives in their hands along this road. Cherwell need to address this issue before there is a major incident.
