Road partly blocked,

Canterbury road had roadworks over 2 months ago but there is still part of the road blocked off as a storage area for equipment and old signs. There is always traffic there now, and especially as the entrance to canterbury road seems to have been narrowed for some reason so cars can;t turn in and out easily anymore. There have been near-accidents recently as there is not even enough room for two cars (esp larger ones), let alone a van and car. Can someone please explain what is going on and why the roadworks last year have made the traffic so much worse and the turnings more dangerous? I can be held up in Canterbury road (where I live) for ages now, especially is rush hour as cars are just blocked down the road trying to get on to woodstock road.
