Despite being reported several times Church Lane has now got into an intolerable state due to the bad weather and lack of maintenance . Parts of the lane have now broken up completely and when it rains the large holes fill up with water and muck and are virtually impassable on foot. The car park for the church is down by the main road, there is very little parking along the lane. It has been brought to my attention that the lane is used by some quite heavy traffic i.e. dustbin lorries, land rovers pulling loaded boat trailers, delivery vans, hearses etc. When the lane was first laid down it was probably never imagined that it would be in such constant use. The bad state of the lane has become a real problem for the ageing congregation of Shiplake Church and quite frankly it is putting off people coming to church. Nevertheless, when there is a wedding, baptism or funeral then the traffic along the lane becomes very heavy, or people have to leave their cars in the car park and navigate their way as best they can around the filthy potholes.we need some action please

The problems are now worse than when first reported. These pictures are just 3 of the 20+ potholes counted on Sunday 2nd Feb. Church Lane floods right across every time there is rain. The pothole damage and flooding are close to making the Church unusable and consequently infringing the rights of local people to practice their religion freely.
