Updates

  • NOW VERY DANGEROUS Received letter dated 30th Oct 2015 regarding overhanging vegetation on Carrington Lane.

It is noted that the vegetation is blocking the footpath completely forcing pedestrians onto road. It is stated that the work has been prioritised and carried out within 5 days and added to the maintenance schedule.

I can report that the vegetation has been cut back but only to the front of kerb (the footpath is still completely blocked). To clear footpath effectively will require the vegetation to be cut back to at least 2 metres clear of the back of kerb line on this highway with a 40 speed limit..

What is much worse is that by cutting back in the way that the maintenance crew have means that sharp branches have been left where people are forced to walk including at eye level.

  • It has finally cut back (by about 1.5 metres). This is good however because it's missed so many scheduled cuts the cut branches are quite thick and dangerous at only 1.5 m from the 40 mph road. To be safe the hedge needs cutting back to at least 2 metres from the road.

May be this cut back can be combined with an overdue scheduled cut on the same corner on the adjacent road

  • Photo shows branches cut back about 1.5 metres (shown by bike length) but branches are thick here and sharp which may injure passing people. On the same corner (second photo) on the adjacent road a scheduled cut is overdue.
