Cycle lanes along A4130 unusable
Reported via mobile in the Vegetation & maintenance category anonymously at 09:13, Mon 13 January 2025
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6970977.
There are designated cycle lanes along the A4130 between the Abingdon Road junction and the roundabout junction just past Screwfix, but they are in a poor state; full of built-up dirt & debris. They are unfit to use and vehicles travel at 50mph along that road, so if cyclists are forced to use the main lanes on the road, it’s actually pretty dangerous too as sections of this road aren’t lit at night either.

Thank you for your enquiry. Oxfordshire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is ultimately responsible for the maintenance of grass verges alongside the carriageway network throughout Oxfordshire (excluding motorways and trunk roads). Under our new approach, all roadside verges in both rural and urban areas are cut once a year. If necessary, we will trim areas that impede driver visibility more regularly. For more details, you can refer to our Highway Verge and Vegetation Management policy at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ sites/ default/ files/ file/ roads-and-transport-major-projects/ grasscuttingpolicy.pdf
