Inconsiderate parking by parents who don't live here

Reported via desktop in the Car parking category anonymously at 10:35, Wed 8 January 2025

Sent to Cardiff Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6949800.

Problem parking at school opening and closing times is an increasing problem for us residents. Parents have twigged on to the fact that they can dump their cars in our small cul-de-sac and cut through the children’s park and take their little darlings to school. This problem could be solved in a second if Cardiff Council agreed to lock the gates on our development as the park was never intended as a passage from Scholars Drive through to Hammond Way – the original park access being solely from Hammond Way. Using the park as a throughfare has resulted in numerous examples of antisocial behaviour from children and youths, not to mention an escape route from those committing crime in our development including vandalism, car crime and theft. But the inconsiderate parent parking is the biggest problem. Cars are left indiscriminately blocking driveways, disabled drop kerb crossings and restricting access to council rubbish trucks and emergency services. Several times the council have not emptied bins due to not being able to access due to double parking. Confronting parents is never pleasant – they are often rude and aggressive. Residents are forced to walk on roads due to blocked pavements and parents sitting in cars with engines running polluting our environment is also a big problem.
