Abandoned car. Multiple parking tickets proves it has been there for over a month

Reported via Android in the Abandoned vehicles category anonymously at 14:53, Saturday 4 January 2025

Sent to Folkestone and Hythe District Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6930672.

This dumped car blocking my disabled access. I cross on my powered wheelchair and getting up the kerb and turning at speed (which you have to do to avoid being run over - this corner and hill - Romney Avenue) is notorious for dangerous driving). Dumped car is blocking the only safe crossing for wheelchairs and mums with buggies going to nearby school. Other dropped kerb is on blind corner at brow of hill.

Thank you for contacting Folkestone & Hythe District Council.

Looking on the DVLA website the car does have tax but no MOT so you would need to take this up with DVLA

  • Gov.uk website is clear that The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) cannot take action against a vehicle with no MOT.

And FDHC can take no action because the vehicle is taxed.

Therefore only the police can take action.

  • Since only the Police can take action on a taxed car without VAT, I have flagged the illegally parked car with the police.
