Water sitting on road

Reported via mobile in the Drainage category anonymously at 16:26, Friday 3 January 2025

Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6927631.

There has been severe cold weather overnight minus 5° and due to poor Road surface and water sitting in a very large puddle on the road around the drains …but not actually draining away…it has frozen overnight and is literally a skating rink on the bend of Marsh Lane. Road signed have been left with ice warnings and skid risks but this has become a severe danger on a corner and several cars have come across the grass leaving the road. This water has been an issue for some time but during severe cold weather needs addressing.

  • This has now got worse… the water is sitting in a large puddle across both sides of the road and is not draining away as the drains are blocked. Should we get more cold weather this will be a disaste r as ice will form. The potholes around the drains are worse resulting in damage to cars now as tyres are being ripped along the side walls

  • All drains blocked so water sitting on road….this needs addressing straight away. I’m a local resident and now when we have heavy rain it runs down marsh lane onto the Reading road and I can’t leave my house to walk the pavement without playing Russian roulette as the water splashes up to my front door

  • All the kerbside drains along the bends of Marsh Lane are still blocked….this has still not been fixed and the road surface was icy this morning due to excess water
